MEET AUDREY DEMARRE
The self-taught designer is passionate about crochet, knitting, patching, and embroidery. Her love for yarn and thread inspired her to blend old fabrics with one-of-a-kind designs influenced by poetry.
At L’Envers, we love telling stories and highlighting women who inspire us. These women share a similar outlook on life, combining artistic sensitivity with hands-on craftsmanship to bring beauty into what can sometimes be a hectic daily routine. These are artists who move us and whom we deeply admire.
Last year, L’Envers had the pleasure of collaborating with Audrey Demarre and welcoming her to our pop-up store on Rue Condorcet in Paris, where she brought her art and personal touch to pieces for a few lucky customers.
Before fully dedicating herself to the art of thread, stitching, and embroidery, Audrey first studied literature and spent twenty years in the publishing world until her 40s.
In 2016, while working as an illustrator’s agent, she finally decided to share her first pieces—topographic maps embroidered on paper—on her Instagram account. She gradually enriched her feed with a unique collection of images, including works from other artists, mainly textile-based.
It was also through Instagram that Julie first came across Audrey’s work. After a few conversations, they met in person and quickly became friends. Their mutual admiration—between L’Envers’ designs and Audrey’s embroidery—made the idea of collaborating feel completely natural.
You can find her new book on embroidery here.
